Webinar - The Award and Your Workplace

Join us for a 1 hour webinar looking at the impacts of DH's and OHT's inclusion in the Health Professionals and Support Services Award.

This presentation provides important information on the details and implementation of the Health Professionals and Support Services Award 2020, which will come into force to include dental hygienists and oral health therapists from 1 July 2021. The practice options above and/or outside the Award will also be briefly discussed.

Learning objectives:

On completion of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Outline key aspects of the Health Professionals and Support Services Award 2020
  2. Describe employers and employees’ obligations before and after the Award becomes mandatory on 1 July 2021
  3. Summarises common non-employment workplace arrangements for dental services - sole trader, partnership, contracting

 

CPD Hours: 1 hour non clinical

With an additional 0.5hr self-recorded non clinical hour on completion of post session assessment

Katrina Murphy

Katrina Murphy founded the national human resources management consulting firm, Katrina Murphy Industrial Relations Pty Ltd in 2006. Katrina’s mission is to be a trusted, long-term expert friend to her employer clients. She provides straight forward answers to difficult workplace problems. Katrina works with her clients, training their managers, advising with strategy or technical matters, dealing with emergencies, conflict and complaints in an honest, empathetic, personal and professional manner.

Katrina has been working with the DHAA for almost 27 years to keep Dental Hygienist off the Award, with the most recent review advocacy spanning 4-5 years. 

Carol Tran

Carol is the National Vice-President of the DHAA and her portfolios include Governance, Management, Policy and Advocacy.

Carol is an Oral Health Therapist with more than ten years of clinical experience that ranges from private practice to university teaching and managing a variety of research projects.  She has served as a coordinator for dental pre-clinic/simulation clinics as well as involvement in  curriculum reviews. She also was heavily involved in project management, policy development, and strategic integration across BDSc and BOralH programs. Her research focus is oriented around projects with a direct clinical relevance encompassing periodontology, implant dentistry, microbiology and cariology. She submitted her PhD thesis in 2017.

Carol has served on DHAA boards and committees since 2010. First as a newsletter editor for the DHAA Vic, then as a CPD member for DHAAQ and as a research reviewer for DHAA national. Carol worked closely alongside Katrina in the most recent Award review advocacy.

Non members: registration is available for non members at a cost of $20 per attendee.
